Arwen, I think you made the best decisions you could with the information you were given, and it really sounded like you had very caring, very invested doctors you could trust. I am really happy that the birth of your boys was a peak life experience for you!

Considering the high-risk type of identical twins that you were carrying, it's a miracle that you didn't have more complications during the pregnancy. I'm glad that the pain of your separation from them as newborns is starting to fade.

I'm not sure I'd say "the best of a bad job" because from what you are describing, you came pretty darn close to perfection for birthing twin babies. Especially identical twin babies. My sister-in-law is a pregnancy super star who has healthy pregnancies and easy births, and she gave birth to fraternal twins a few years ago. Everything was going smoothly, with baby #1 out, when things started to go wrong and baby #2 had to come by emergency c-section. Both boys spent less than a week in the hospital, but she did have to deal with surgery aftermath. Twins are just hard. You did well, in my opinion.

There is often so much more to contend with, in terms of compromises, with twin births. I am so glad that you see the actual birth in such powerful, beautiful terms.

I too have 4 under 5 with twins as the youngest kids. All your posts have me nodding in agreement, including this one. My twin's birth (vertex, transverse breech with prolapse cord) baffles me too, messy, wonderful, amazing, terrifying, and just weird. My twins are 7.5 months old and multiple times every day I am still thanking God for just letting them live and be healthy.

My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for three years now and had no success. I finally went to see a fertility doctor about a month ago and he started me on Clomid about two weeks ago at day 3 of my period all the way to day 7. I had my hcg shot this last Friday and did my first IUI yesterday morning. We find out if we are with baby in two weeks. I'm so excited! I am really happy that the birth of your boys was a peak life experience for you.

Really enjoying your entries. I especially liked that post you did with the photos of your twins getting older. It was so adorable!

The type of baby bouncer seat that you are going to get for your baby will depend quite a bit on the age and weight of your child. A baby that weighs 40lbs will probably have a very different baby bouncer seat than a 20lb baby for example.
