I'm really glad you posted those! I recently learned about Google Reader and now I need more blogs to read. I was already reading your mom and JenEx, but I've added the other two.

Those look like lovely additions to my usual reads!

I have to say that you've introduced me to most of the blogs in my Reader -- you have excellent taste! I check out your mom and JenEx's blogs occasionally. But you've turned me on to Maggie, Not That You Asked, and the blog formerly known as Perfect Work. I don't know if you read or not? I don't think she's doing NaBloPoMo but she generally posts every day about faith and the adventures of raising a family of eight =)

Thanks for the tips! I've been loving your mom's posts...I'm always eager to check her blog to see what new things I'll learn about your siblings. :) I'm glad she's going to come back to you, because even though we "know" you through your blog it's always interesting to hear the parents' perspective!

And why isn't Lindsay in your sidebar? That's how I find out where the good reading is!

The oldest always gets the short shrift, it's true.

I have to confess, you are my only non-homeschooling blog.

Like I needed to lengthen my blog roll... ;-)

Oh what the heck, I can always use something more to read!

RE: Oldest Children Always Get The Short Shrift. I didn't get my ears pierced until I was SIXTEEN. And my mom was so excited to give me my pierced ear earrings and by that time I was SO OVER IT and all "Mom, this would have been cool, like FIVE YEARS AGO."

Thanks for the links, I'll have to check those out. I've been reading your mom's blog as well, and it really is neat to hear about such a big family.

Thanks for the new links!

My ears: still not pierced.
I never wanted them pierced,
So I never did.

My grandmother got
Very frustrated with me
SHE wanted them pierced!

She gave me a pair
Of pretty gold post earrings.
Did I take the hint?

No. The earrings sat
Unused for years, until she
Caved, asked for them back(!)

I love reading Jill's blog at Langer Loksh as she talks about her kids and what they are up to and the unusual circumstance that her son has.

Julia at REDBOOK and Hippogriffs is awesome and I can't wait for her twins to be born some time in the near future - I've been following her forced bedrest lately and she's still hysterical.

And of course, i love your blog here - lovin' the NaBlaPoMo posts - a daily fix of Arwen!!

This is a great list. Thanks for posting it! I will be sure to check these out.

You are much too kind! Thank you so very much for the birthday wishes. I truly appreciate it. You're wonderful. Hugs to you!

Fellow oldest child here -- I didn't get my ears pierced until I was probably 11 or 12 because my mom had this arbitrary rule that I had to be 10 before she would let me get them pierced. Well by the time I was 10 I was old enough to be petrified of the thought of someone poking holes in my ears. So I had to go three different times to three different piercing establishments before I was finally brave enough to do it. Oddly enough, in trying to convince me it was no big deal, my mom let my 7-year-old sister get her ears pierced on my second (failed) attempt -- and she didn't chicken out! Heh.

I was also not allowed to watch R-rated movies until I was 17. To this day (I'm 29) I STILL have not caught up with my peers and haven't scene dozens of movies that "everyone" has seen. But will I do the same for my children? Probably!

Thanks for the links! blogs to check out! Thanks for the recommendations.

I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 13. But then again, my mom didn't get her's pierced until my sister was 13, five years later. They had them done at the same time.

Well, I'll try your links! I get bored and read a lot of celeb gossip sites, much to my shame!
