Hey all! This is Arwen posting now (it was my sister Miriel for the last couple of times). I've been updating Twitter and Facebook but I forget, sometimes, that not everyone uses/checks those. Sorry about that!
So, the hospital stay has ended up being longer than we expected. Tonight will be night seven. Linus has RSV and ended up with a pretty nasty case of what they think was bacterial pneumonia. His chest x-ray on Saturday looked much worse than the initial one last Wednesday.
Fortunately, they kicked him up from the original antibiotic to a stronger one, and forty-eight hours later (this morning) he looked much better. He's weaning off the supplemental oxygen, slowly but surely. His anemia is still a concern, and is causing them to hold him to higher standards for oxygen saturation levels in order for him to go home, but none of the dangerous complications the doctors initially feared have happened.
We'll see how he does through tonight (Tuesday) and make a plan tomorrow. I think at this point the best-case scenario is that Linus does super-well overnight and comes home in the morning. More realistically, he could get finally weaned off the oxygen tomorrow during the day and get discharged in the evening. It's possible that (big sigh of exhaustion) we might have to stay tomorrow night as well.
And then there's always the possibility of unforeseen complications. But, well, we can't foresee those, so there's no point worrying about them.
Oh, and Ambrose is sick too, but seems to be pushing through with no problems. He's been sick for six days now and is definitely on the upswing, praise God.
Thank you all so much for your prayers! You've helped carry us through this past week and I appreciate it so much.
