Before I forget, and because I'm procrastinating horribly on my paper, a short story:
Bryan and I went to visit his grandmother, who has recently had a stroke that pushed her even more deeply into dementia. We were talking about dogs, and she asked us if we have any pets. Her lucidity fades in and out; asking a question that is related to the topic of the conversation is exceptional for her. Bryan told her that we don't have any housepets, and that we don't plan to get any. And she said, "Oh, that's right. You're a babymaker, aren't you?"
Perhaps it's a sign? A good one?
